A brand-new partnership between Reedham Children’s Trust and Legacy Youth Zone is set to transform the lives of thousands of young people living in Croydon.
In celebration of its 175th year anniversary, Reedham Children’s Trust, Croydon’s oldest children’s charity, has pledged to become a Founder Patron of Legacy Youth Zone by making a charitable donation of £25,000 per year for the next three years.
Legacy Youth Zone officially opened in Selhurst on Saturday 7th September, Legacy Youth Zone is a brand-new young people’s charity which provides young people from all backgrounds with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.
Inside the £6.5million Youth Zone, young people aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, will have access to over 20 activities, 7 days a week, including indoor climbing, sports, art, drama, music, media, cooking, health and wellbeing, enterprise and much more.
Legacy Youth Zone has registered over 4,000 members in the first two months of operation, allowing Reedham’s donation to benefit thousands of young people each year for years to come.
Legacy Youth Zone was developed by the national charity OnSide Youth Zones and will be the third OnSide Youth Zone opening in London this year. The OnSide model currently reaches over 45,000 young people across 12 Youth Zones in Bolton, Blackburn, Carlisle, Wigan, Oldham, Manchester, Warrington, Wolverhampton, Wirral, Chorley, Barking and Dagenham and Barnet.

The Youth Zone’s building costs have been joint funded by Croydon Council, the Queen’s Trust, the Stone Family Foundation and The Seroussi Foundation via UBS Optimus Foundation. The charity’s annual £1.4 million revenue costs are supported by its Founder Patrons; a number of local businesses, organisations and philanthropists as well as support from the Local Authority.
