We are living in unprecedented times. Social distancing has seemed to build up a sense of distrust and heightened anxiety across our society, but in the midst of the COVID19 pandemic, our communities have really banded together to make sure the most vulnerable in our society are not forgotten and left to fend for them-selves.
Our Youth Co-ordinators have been contacting our members to make sure that our young people are still being supported and staying engaged though this strange period of social isolation.
The Big Love Kitchen has been amazing since the Legacy Croydon Youth Zone has opened, providing a hot meal for our members for just £1. With the number of children in Croydon relying on free school meals reaching over 13,000, food provision for our young people at this time has been our major concern.
At Legacy Youth Zone Croydon, our food provider City Harvest, has been sending deliveries to us three times a week. Myke, our head of youth work and other members of our team have been busy making food parcels for our members to collect from the Youth Zone, which have been gratefully received.
Other organisations have been in touch and we are helping each other to try to make sure that our provisions are equally shared and that people are not left without.
If you would like to donate or if you know anyone who is in urgent need of food, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or share the information below for our local foodbanks in Croydon. #YZatHome
