All through lockdown our youth workers are continuing to support young people every day. To learn more about the creative sessions that they are delivering online, and the one-to-one help they are giving to the most vulnerable, see below.
Ahead of this I wanted to let you and your family know about a special online event we’re hosting on Sunday 10th May. At 4pm the OnSide community is coming together to watch the incredible OnSide Awards.
Held at the Royal Albert Hall in November, this event was an absolute highlight of the year when over 4,000 young people, youth workers, supporters and friends witnessed some of the amazing talent that exists across the network. Music, dancing, laughter and tears, the night had it all – with special guests including Prince Harry, The Script and John Newman!
To watch the stream, all you need to do is click on the link below on Sunday at 4pm. You’ll be able to view it on your phone, laptop, tablet or even your TV if it is hooked up to YouTube or you have a HDMI cable. I hope you can join me, young people and their parents, and fellow supporters to relive this uplifting event.

I said above that I’d tell you a little more about the amazing work that is taking place by our youth workers across the UK, all through lockdown.
‘Youth Zone at Home’ is delivering creative, positive, interactive online sessions enabling young people to stay in touch and stay active whilst social distancing. Live streaming across social media has enabled thousands of young people to get involved with their favourite friendly youth workers, whether it be a member of staff hosting a DJ session with requests, or youth workers answering young people’s questions on a wide range of topics, with conversations over the chat functions. Click here to learn more.
For those who need us most, youth workers are reaching out by phone to support good emotional health and wellbeing, and being an integral part of safeguarding a growing number of vulnerable young people. Read Sarah’s story here.
From one-to-one support for the most vulnerable to general entertainment to alleviate young people’s boredom, Youth Zones’ virtual doors are open 7 days per week – just when they need us most!
Wishing you and yours the very best of health,
OnSide Youth Zones
