LEGACY YOUTH ZONE GIVES OUT LAPTOPS TO IT’S MEMBERS THANKS TO A SPECIAL DONATION FROM A SUPPORTER
In light of the pandemic, young people have been indoors over the last three months in a nation-wide lockdown, preventing them from going to school or taking part in regular day-to-day activities that they’ve been used to prior to the lockdown. This has had an effect on their education as they’ve had to adapt to the new home-schooling conditions. Due to this new structure, many young people have struggled to continue with schoolwork, due to lack of resources given that a large part of study must be done online. Although Legacy had to pause face to face delivery at the facility, we have very much remained Open, providing support in other ways.
Legacy Youth Zone is a Croydon based youth charity which is part of the national OnSide Youth Zones network. We are supported by organisations, and individuals to be able to provide young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. With special thanks to one of our Legacy Youth Zone Founder Patrons, James Findlay ,making a generous contribution towards providing essentials such as laptops, office 365 and internet access, we have been able to provide 45 laptops to some of our members to help them study and complete school work that has been given to them during this time.
Legacy Youth Zone member, Damaine said: “Thanks to Legacy for this laptop as this will help me get all of my work done. I couldn’t do work with the resources I had but it will be much easier now.”
Legacy Youth Zone Chief Executive, Barnabas said: “We are delighted to have been able to help our members with the resources they need during this difficult time so they can continue to complete their learning at home. The generosity of our Founder Patrons and partners has enabled us to continue to give our members and others in the community much needed support during this time, and thanks to this one off donation from James Findlay it has enabled us to extend that support even further with a laptops and internet access to help some of our members adjust to the new normal.”
