M R Scaffolding Services, based nearby to the Youth Zone on Mitcham Road Croydon, has pledged to generate £75,000 over the next three years for Legacy Youth Zone. MR Scaffolding Services was established more than 45 years ago, in 1974. The commercial scaffolding company has gone on to become specialists in providing access solutions to the construction industry.
Jack Broadbent of MR Scaffolding Services said:
“We are delighted to support and become a founder patron for Legacy Youth Zone. We visited the centre and we were amazed by the hard work and dedication of the team in providing a platform with many opportunities available to the local community. Being a local business, we want to support and encourage the youth of today within the local community. Collectively our visions are aligned and together we can make a difference. We look forward to growing our partnership with the team moving forward!”
Barnabas Shelbourne, Chief Executive, Legacy Youth Zone said:
“It is such great news to hear that MR Scaffolding Services has chosen to support Legacy as their local charity in Croydon. Their support will help us to continue to provide positive opportunities for young people, helping to level up the playing field so that their personal circumstances do not hinder their potential”.
Monday the 7th September 2020 was Legacy’s first birthday. Staff and members celebrated the event with an amazing live-streamed virtual party. There were amazing performances from Legacy members and a big green birthday cake!
Community support has been at the top of Legacy Youth Zone’s agenda since the UK Government announced its current measures in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
So far, the staff at Legacy have ensured that over 8,100 meals have been distributed to local families in Croydon.
Legacy is a £6.5 million purpose-built youth facility, which provides members with access to an indoor climbing wall, sports hall, fully equipped gym, arts & crafts studio, music room with recording studio, training kitchen, 3G kick pitch, dance & drama studio, and much more – all for just £5 annual membership and 50p per visit. The Youth Zone also works with partner organisations to deliver enterprise and employability workshops to help get young people into education, employment or training.
Legacy Youth Zone is delivered in partnership with OnSide Youth Zones and Croydon Council and supported by several local businesses and philanthropists who have an interest in Croydon.
Legacy Youth Zone has been hugely popular with local young people, with 5,500 members already signed up. It is the third OnSide Youth Zone that opened last year in London and the first in South London. The OnSide Youth Zones network currently welcomes over 50,000 members across 13 Youth Zones in Croydon, Barnet, Barking and Dagenham, Bolton, Carlisle, Blackburn, Oldham, Wigan, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Wirral, Warrington and Chorley.
