A to Z of Fundraising Ideas
Running out of fundraising ideas? Try out our A to Z of fundraising below!
Whether you organise it at work, home or at a local venue, why not host an afternoon tea? After all we are a nation of tea drinkers!
Take after Mary Berry and host your very own bake sale! Whether you run your bake sale at home, work, or school, be sure to make sure you find out about your audiences’ dietary requirements!
Why not organise a coffee morning alongside your bake sale or if you already know someone who is organising a bake sale why not partner up and host your coffee morning/bake sale together. Cake and coffee are always a great way to draw people in, who doesn’t like a sweet treat!
Donate to your birthday
This year instead of asking for presents make a real difference by getting your family and friends to give a donation to Legacy instead. Facebook make it really easy for you to use your birthday to raise money. If you want help with setting up your Facebook fundraiser just click here.
With both a long bank holiday weekend and a school holiday, Easter is a great time to fundraise. There are lot of ways you can raise money over Easter, whether that is through your own easter egg hunt or a spring Harvest event at your school, be as creative as you want to be!
Make your house a cinema for the night and get people round to watch a film. You could even make popcorn and charge people for it. If you can’t have people round why not host your film night on Netflix and Zoom? Just start your film at the same time and keep your zoom running!
Give it up
We all have bad habits, but if you have a habit you want to kick, why not do it whilst raising money for the young people in Croydon? If your habit is costly, why not donate the money you save? Or if the habit is hard to kick, why not get people to sponsor you and spur you on? You could give up things like chocolate, alcohol, or social media!
Be bold and brave the shave! Whatever your reason for shaving your hair off, you’ll be helping Legacy be there for young people in Croydon when they need it most.
Why not get together with your friends and hold a games tournament on your Wii or Ps4. Just look for inspiration at Legacy in the rec area!
Already thought of a fundraising idea and want to get your friends and family to sponsor you? Head over to JustGiving and set up your own fundraising page for Legacy.
Take to the stage as Madonna or Justin Timberlake and sing your heart out with your friends.
Learn a new skill
Fancy learning a new skill like learning and instrument or skateboarding? To help keep you motivated why not get sponsored to learn that skill and put on a show when you’ve reached your goal.
Before you skip onto the next fundraising idea remember marathon doesn’t have to mean running! You could organise your own marathon DJ set, dance, or game!
Name the teddy bear
Why not tap into people’s competitive nature with this iconic guessing game. Charge per entry and get a prize donated.
If you have a beautiful garden in full bloom, why not open your doors for an entry fee and host an open house. As well as opening your garden why not organise some refreshments such a coffee and cake to raise even more money for Legacy. It’s a great way to bond with your neighbours!
Pancake race/Pancake day/ Shrove Tuesday
Why not organise your own pancake day on Shrove Tuesday whilst raising money for Legacy.
Choose a theme and start writing some questions for your very own quiz night! You can host the night and your guests pay to play. If you want more tips on how to organise your own quiz why not take a look at our step by step guide here. (include link to virtual quiz).
A raffle is great to have at a fundraising event. Just charge your guests per ticket and the winner gets a prize. This could also work as a standalone fundraising activity.
We are also registered with Amazon Smile for any of your Amazon shopping please use through the Amazon Smile website and add Legacy Youth Zone as your charity of choice.
Replicate our very own tuck shop at Legacy and grab yourself some simple budget recipes, and cook up something cheap to sell. Your friends or colleagues can grab some grub for a budget price while supporting a worthy cause.
Ugly jumper day
Whether you’re at work or school, ask your pupils or colleagues to don their best ‘ugly’ jumper. Prizes can be given out to the best (worst!) outfit.
Why not organise a singles event such as speed-dating or bake some love themed cookies for the office and ask for donations.
Why not take part in our Leg-It for Legacy, challenging you to walk 10,000 steps a day for a month! To find out more click here.
Xbox/play station/console night
Organise your own charity game fundraiser and make it a gaming session that matters by inviting people to play for a donation to Legacy Youth Zone.

Are you part of a local Zumba group? Then why not encourage your fellow Zumba dancers to take part in a Zumbathon to raise money for Legacy. Bust a move and watch the donations fly in.
“Legacy has provided much needed environment, activities and opportunites for young people to this ares a London in a safe positive, inclusive inspirational and very relatabe way for our young people. It is a diamond in the rough. My Daughter attends and the staff have embraced her personality and talent and do all they can to encourage her to reach her goals. The staff are always approachable and have been amazingly charitable in supporting the local community during the pandemic. I hope Legacy can live up to its name in many many years to come… Legacy is one of the things Croydon can be proud of.”
