Arts Co-ordinator/ Youth Worker

Do you want to use your artistic and creative talents to make the lives of young people better? We are looking for someone who is as passionate about the Arts as they are about growing and developing young people. Vibrant, creative and committed to supporting young people and nurturing talent, you will be as comfortable managing a team and designing The Arts offer as you are leading from the front and delivering sessions to young people.

Legacy Youth Zone is a state-of-the-art £6.5m facility currently under construction in Croydon, opening in Summer 2019. Attracting young people from across the borough and beyond through its fantastic facilities, the Youth Zone is a registered charity and will provide positive activities and practical support, with the aim of enabling young people to make constructive use of their leisure time and raise their aspirations.

The Role

The Arts Coordinator will have responsibility developing and delivering an exciting arts programme of activities which will engage young people aged 8 to 19 years (25 with disabilities) as well as providing direct line management support, coaching, and development for arts sessional workers and volunteers. The Arts Coordinator will oversee the arts and crafts offer as well as leading on arts and music events which can make use of the whole of the Youth Zone.

The Person

You will:

  • Have extensive experience of delivering arts activities to young people and hands-on youth work, engaging vulnerable, disengaged or hard to reach young people
  • Be experienced in managing a staff team including volunteers
  • Be qualified or suitably experienced in a range of arts mediums including Dance, Music, Photography, Performing or Creative Arts etc.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to young people and have the ability to engage and build positive relationships
  • Have the ability to plan and deliver arts events, such as performances or exhibitions
  • Be passionate about the aims and mission of OnSide Youth Zones, and Croydon.

Youth Work Lead (Senior Club)

The Role

The Senior Club Manager will work across all Youth Zone sessions and have lead responsibility for the Senior Club offer to 13-19 (up to 25 with a disability) year olds. It will take responsibility for ensuring there is a high-quality, creative and fun offer and provide young people with the best possible experiences and opportunities. You will have a passion to put young people first and be responsible for the continuous improvement of the delivery and inputting towards the strategic delivery plan for Legacy Youth Zone.

The Person

You will:

  • Have proven experience of working with young people aged 13 to 19 (25 with disabilities) in a range of settings, including open access youth work
  • Be able to engage vulnerable, disengaged or hard to reach young people
  • Have experience of managing a staff team including volunteers and experience of dealing with safeguarding issues within a multi-agency setting
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to young people and have the ability to engage and build positive relationships
  • Be passionate about the aims and mission of OnSide Youth Zones, and Croydon.

Facilities Coordinator

The Role

The newly appointed Facilities Officer will be responsible for keeping our young people safe by managing and maintaining the building, security systems and facilities effectively and efficiently. In addition, the post will ensure that Legacy is compliant with all health and safety regulations, including equipment, buildings, and the safe management of sub-contractors; in addition to directly managing the cleaning team and ensuring that the building is pristine, and all areas are open and safe for our young. This is a critical and exciting role, which will significantly contribute to our offer to young people.

The Person

You will:

  • Have significant experience of building maintenance and/or management, including staff supervision
  • Have excellent people skills with the ability to establish good professional relationships with young people and adults
  • Have the ability and initiative to carry out general repairs and preventative work
  • Have a working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
  •  Demonstrate a strong commitment to young people
  • Be passionate about the aims and mission of OnSide Youth Zones, and Croydon.

To take a lead responsibility for the delivery of the Youth Zone’s Enterprise and Employability offer ensuring all young people have access to exciting enterprise projects and the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to improve their employability. The post also involves the delivery of a targeted programme to support young people not currently in education, employment or training into positive destinations.
