Arts Youth Worker – Film, Media and/or Radio

The Arts, alongside sport and Youth Work, is at the heart of Legacy’s offer to young people.  The Arts offer is wide-ranging and includes visual arts, music, media, dance and drama.  As a member of the Performing Arts Team, leading on the coaching and teaching in Film, Media and Radio, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and creative Film/Media/Radio programme that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental. You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of a single or range of arts activities enabling young people to explore their creativity and grow their skills.

Within the arts team we are looking for a range of talented youth arts workers to make up a team with a diverse set of skills and expertise, who are also passionate about working with young people. Ideally, you will have experience delivering one or more of the following music arts:

  • Film
  • Photography
  • Radio
  • Amination

Youth Sports Worker – Youth Climbing Instructor

Sports and outdoor pursuits, alongside the Arts and Youth Work, is at the heart of Legacy’s offer to young people.  The sports and outdoor offer at Legacy is wide-ranging and as a member of the Sports team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme of adventurous activities that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental.

You will ensure the climbing wall is well used and maintained to a high standard by offering young people safe, exciting and challenging routes to climb in a friendly and welcoming environment. You will provide supervision and advice to young people and support and guide members of Legacy Youth Zone’s staff and volunteers.

Our targeted youth work and projects, alongside arts and sport, are at the heart of Legacy’s offer to young people.  Feedback from young people and experience from operational Youth Zones tells us that some young people, such as young women, wanted dedicated and safe spaces within their Youth Zone.

Young people also tell us that all opportunities should be open to all young people.  This role is based in the health and well-being room, which is also equipped with a health and beauty salon.  Here you will work with all young people to provide a wide range of opportunities from informal education sessions, health projects and the more traditional health and beauty activities.

Youth Worker – Recreational/Youth Engagement and Activity Area

The recreation and activity area is the heart of Legacy’s offer to young people. The recreation offer is wide-ranging and no day is ever the same. As a member of the team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme, which could range from pool competitions hosting your own version of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, to organising a debate on mental health or hosting an anti-bullying project.

The possibilities are endless. The post holder will be responsible for creating a lively, dynamic, creative and fun-loving environment for all young people, whilst also creating space for young people to explore and discuss some of the big issues of the day and of course, have FUN!

Within the Sports Team, we are looking for talented sports and fitness coaches to become part of a team with a wide range of skills, who are also passionate about working with young people. Ideally, you will have experience, or one or more coaching qualifications, such as a level 2 National Governing Body Award in either boxing, kickboxing or other martial arts.

You will have access to our new gym, equipped with cardio and resistance equipment, Olympic weight lifting facilities and a functional area. You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals gym use and fitness, running fitness classes in line with your skills, as well as facilitating taster sessions and competitions, which engage young people and build their skills and fitness levels.

Within the Sports Team, we are looking for talented sports and fitness coaches to become part of a team with a wide range of skills, who are also passionate about working with young people. Ideally, you will have experience, or one or more coaching qualifications, such as Level 2 NGB including Level 2 Gym Instruction or above.  We are also looking applicants with Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Weight Lifting.

Ideally, you will have experience, or one or more level 2 specific coaching qualifications, from a National Governing Body.

Youth Worker – Training Kitchen and Cooking

Cooking and food, is at the heart of Legacy’s offer to young people. We provide meals for £1 but we think it’s more important to teach our young people how to cook a healthy meal for themselves.

You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of cooking alongside hygiene awareness. This could be making cookies with the juniors or cooking a three-course meal with the seniors, at the end of the day who doesn’t love FOOD.
